Hi there I'm Lisa

My Story

We all experience different seasons of our lives.  And with each season, we experience different sources of stress.

There was a season of my life where I worked full-time while also studying full-time to get my MBA.  Balancing two full-time workloads was stressful.

There was a season when I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband) and became step-mom to two teenage boys.  Learning how to balance work and family came with its stress.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been in a season where I’m juggling newfound caretaking responsibilities for an aging parent, while working a full-time job, while also building this business.  There have been days in which the stress feels overwhelming.  But there have been far more days where the swirl of it all fuels and fulfills me.

All of this is to say…I know what it means to balance productivity and well-being.  I know what it takes to get stuff done without leaving anyone behind - including myself.

Throughout all of these seasons, I searched for ways to reduce my stress.  Every article I read reminded me of the importance of exercise, meditation, a healthy diet, sleep, connection with family and friends, etc.  Don’t get me wrong…these are all vital things we need in our lives.  But none of them alone, or together for that matter, helped me figure out how to say “no” to the ever-growing list of things on my “to-do” list.  In fact, adding exercise, meditation and the endless series of other recommendations I read about just felt like more things to add to my “to do” list.

That’s when I turned to what I know best.  And that’s when I started hearing people say things like:

“Lisa…you always seem to handle everything with such grace…how do you do it?”

“Lisa…I don’t know how you do everything you do!”

That’s when I realized I had the tools I needed all along. My approach to stress management is something that most people don't know about.  So that’s why I created Willown!

So that's my story.  I'm Lisa Lafflam and I look forward to hearing YOUR story!

How I Can Help You!

I have 20 years of experience leading process improvement projects in companies big and small. I hold an MBA degree and a global PMP (Project Management) certification. I’ve designed and facilitated 100s of training programs for 1000s of leaders at all levels.

I’m a lifelong learner and personal growth champion on a mission to learn something new every day.  And I’m a teacher and coach on a mission to teach something new every day.

So what does this all mean for YOU?
  • I’ve amassed an amazing collection of tools and strategies designed to reduce and remove friction and stress within any process - and I’ve simplified them, so YOU can use them in your everyday life.

  • I’m a systems-thinker and process-designer, which means I know how to turn ideas into action and I can teach you how to do the same.

  • I’m a storyteller who loves to train others…or maybe I’m a trainer who loves to tell stories.  In either case, I know how to create and deliver fun, practical and impactful learning experiences that will help YOU grow and succeed.

My Values
I carefully chose my business name as it combines two principles I hold on to dearly.
WILL

Refers to the uniquely human quality that allows us to act and make choices based on our principles and not what our environment dictates we should do.  When we're stressed, we often think we’re not in control.  But we are!

OWN

Refers to our ability to have possession and control over an asset.  I believe, as humans, our greatest asset is our ability to learn, especially amongst the disruption and chaos that stress can bring us.

And within my company's name stands the willow tree.

Willow trees have long been a symbol of the values I cherish the most in life:

  • Strength and Determination: They are fast growing with large and strong roots.

  • Grit and Courage: They are a pioneer species, which means they are the first to inhabit a new area.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: They have long, flowing branches that bend - but don’t break - against strong winds.

  • Hope and Resilience: They continue to grow even after being cut down.
